Arnhem is calling!

November 30, 2007

we’re leaving tomorrow to Holland. VERY early. oh what a Saturday it will be…

yeah babe! Keep the horns up!!

Bands

Sodom (DE)
‘Sodomy and lust!’ Which true metalhead doesn’t know that classic? Fortunately the men of Sodom can’t be classified as ‘classics’ and will show us what an energetic and powerful performance actually means. Who said Thrash Metal passed its peak?
http://sodomized.info/

Asphyx (NL)
Primitive, pounding Death Metal will be brought to us by the legendary Asphyx. Headbanging is the norm here, ‘cause these men won’t accept anything less! Understandable, as their groovy midtempo metal is the perfect soundtrack to bang your head to. First and only Dutch reunion show with Martin van Drunen, singer of Pestilence.

Hollenthon (AUT)
A bombastic Black Metal band that manages to intrigue everyone with their well thought-out blend of metal and epic atmospheres. Apparently effortless Hollenthon intertwines keyboards and choirs with musical violence. This is their first live performance after three less active years, and we’ll be treated to some new material!

Marduk (SWE)
The Black Metal Legends are taking the battle to Arnhem! Marduk’s brutality has found itself unrivalled since the band started in the nineties, and with the release of ‘Rom: 5:12’, their tenth masterpiece, it has reached an all-time high. Blasphemy the way we like it.

Unleashed (SWE)
Hail the founding fathers of Swedish Death Metal! Unleashed have been spreading darkness for over a decade and were the first in their genre to use their Scandinavian heritage as a source of inspiration. In 2006 the band starred in the ‘Masters of Death Metal Tour’, which is a label that fits them well.

Primordial (IRE)
Overwhelming and intense. That’s probably the best way to describe a Primordial gig. Their Pagan Black Metal with Irish influences constitutes the base, the performance of front man Nemtheanga does the rest; a haunting atmosphere is what remains Their new album, ‘To The Nameless Dead’ will be released a week before the AMM.

Holy Moses (GER)
These thrash metal pioneers already kicked major ass when most of the metal heroes of nowadays were still in diapers, so prepare yourselves! Singer and overall tough woman Sabina Claassen produces grunts that her male colleagues can’t help but envy and the show in its totality is bound to blow you away.

Nifelheim (SWE)
Unholy Black Metaaaaal from the fiery pits of hell! These illustrious individuals, who carry monikers like Sadist and Hellbutcher and are a rare guest in our territory, will do a little show and tell on their new album. And we all know what that means: a bloody good time.

Cruachan (IRE)
Okay, shamrocks, whiskey and leprechauns are all truly Irish, but there’s more, and the ‘Viking slayers’ of Cruachan are here to prove it. They easily blend metal with ancient Celtic tunes and themes, to end up with a rebelliously danceable set. Pagan metal like it’s supposed to be.

Haemorrhage (ESP)
Haemorrhage represents our own little AMM-Grindgore party! These Spaniards definitely do justice to the genre as they blow away many a audience with the sounds of their tuned-down guitars, blastbeats and quite impressive vocal work. A respected band in the genre, which will provide some real musical and visual violence.

Vreid (NOR)
Formed by the remaining members of Windir, VREID brings Norwegian black metal mixed with the ambience of Windir and the groove of bands like Sepultura and Motorhead. Their new conceptalbum ‘I Krig’, released in June 2007, tells about a Norwegian resistance fighter during WWII.

Cypher (NL)
Death/Thrash metal band hailing from The Hague. Explosive and Aggresive. Get ready to be pummeled into submission!

Severe Torture (NL)
Hollands answer to Death Metal. Their new album ‘Sworn Vengeance’ will be released a few weeks before AMM by British label Earache Records.

Panchrysia (B)
Underground Black Metal

Obsidian (NL)
Technical metal with an awesome sound and vibe in the vein of bands like Meshuggah, Cynic and Scarve.

Romantic weekend in Paris … oh la la

November 20, 2007

oh, the weekend in Paris – first time with Micha (and Micha’s first time in Paris at all)… oh it was soooooo good!!

 Some highlights:

1- Paris without Métro (they were striking) is CHAOTIC (but can be romantic anyway)

2- Yes, we love Paris! Yes, we could live there… in a hypothetical meaning!

3- Everything in Paris is really OVERPRICED (well, everybody knows that!)

4- French french fries taste exactly the same as german french fries or austrian french fries or brazilian french fries  :-P

5- French baguettes (in Portuguese= “pão francês”, “french bread”) taste better in France than anywhere else.

6- French crèpes are the best crèpes I’ve ever tasted!! hmmm…

7- The Notre Dame was more beautiful this time for me in comparison to the other times I’ve been in Paris…

8- We’ve kissed under the “Pont Neuf” (New Bridge)… according to the legends, it means: we’ll be together for ever and ever!!

9- Micha was the first tourist in Paris who wasn’t “that” interested on seeing the Eiffel Tower a little closer!

10- French wine tastes perfect (also when it’s imported from Italy)… when you’re  in good company! ;-)

11- Paris is the perfect place to go when you’re in love.

12- Actually… anywhere is the perfect place to go when you’re in love. As far as the beloved person is by your side! ;-)

Pictures are coming soon! (as soon as Micha uploads them!). For now you can have one free sample:

….well, now we need to start the plans for: Roma, Madrid, Lisboa, Bucarest, Budapest, Creta, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Manaus, Belo Horizonte, Ciudad de México, San Franciso, San Diego, Tokyo, Islas Galápagos, etc, etc, etc….

(I think I’ll need a second job to afford so many trips!!! )

I’m famous!! I’m famous!!

November 13, 2007

yes, yes… I am famous!!  There are pictures from me at the page of the coolest metal place of Vienna!!

… this time with two gorgeous women:

… and it wasn’t the first time!!!

… the first time with a german natural beauty:

keep the horns up!!

texas wildflowers blossoming in autum!

November 12, 2007

Before I moved to Vienna I got a gift from Devon: some Texas wildflowers seeds.

I’ve planted them in April – so they were supposed to blossom in June. But they didn’t.

They started to blossom this week – the same week of this year’s first snow!!

Amazing!

Here are some of them:
