I was in Dresden (my “hometown”, as I always say) last weekend and did some interesting things with my friends and relatives-in-law…
1. German Studies’ Stammtisch (I don’t know how ”Stammtisch” would be called in English – literally means the table for regulars. Usually indicates a special interest group that meets on a regular basis) on Friday. Pictures HERE. (it was really nice to meet everybody again!!! )
2. Visit to the historical Grünes Gewölbe in Dresden – I saw the treasures of the emperor August, the strong. Really beautiful, but we weren’t allowed to take pictures…
3. Bacalhau (stockfish) at Paula’s dorm on Saturday - oh yeah, nobody can cook stockfish as good as the portuguese do!!! Hmmmm… Paula, my dear, you’re the best!!! Pictures HERE.
I forgot to tell you… I went to a Korpiklaani Concert last week. A real BLAST!! We’ve danced the whole night with their “Folk and Humppa metal” … pictures HERE.
oh, and again this yahoo! stuff: yahoo! avatars… I think it’s cute!!
Well, I am a saleswoman. That’s what I do for a living.
Hm. But the funny thing is, when you sell capital goods… hm… it’s not like selling bread or DVD players, which are things that anyone knows (or should know – I won’t discuss about all the starving people who not even know what food is… or at least I won’t discuss about it now.)…
Ok. The point here is: if you sell power generation turbines, it’s not as easy to know what you sell as a baker knows his product.
So. We decided to visit the construction site this week.
And it was really cool!!! I loved it – although I couldn’t understand all technical information the engineer tried to explain – and took lots of pictures, which I naturally cannot publish (kind of confidential)… but I think this one here is harmless…
… as one of the girls said: “it looks like a vacation picture”.
I just love this movie (Moonstruck, Norman Jewison, 1987), and this passage always makes me cry (ok, I am a woman, take it into account!! )
“Loretta, I love you. Not like they told you love is, and I didn’t know this either, but love don’t make things nice – it ruins everything. It breaks your heart. It makes things a mess. We aren’t here to make things perfect. The snowflakes are perfect. The stars are perfect. Not us. Not us! We are here to ruin ourselves and to break our hearts and love the wrong people and *die*. The storybooks are *bullshit*. Now I want you to come upstairs with me and *get* in my bed!”
