well I couldn’t wait till Stardust starts on theaters in Europe.
So I managed an alternative way to watch it. Please don’t be mad about me, Mr. Gaiman. I swear I’ll spend a lot of money watching the movie on the “official way”, but I needed to watch it now.
First of all, I have to admit it’s much better for us as fans when the author makes the treatment of his own book… the final result looks better for us. Although… hm, I have read Gaiman’s short Story “The goldfish pool and other stories” (Gaiman, N.: Smoke and Mirrors: Short Fictions and Illusions. Harper Perennial, 2001), kind of a meta-linguistic fiction, where an author experiences the stressful process of “writing a treatment of his own book”. So, maybe it’s not as funny for the author to write the treatment himself as it is funny for us to watch a good movie… but anyway thank you Mr. Gaiman for having the nerves to write the treatment!
Well, anyway I watched the movie.
1- Well, Robert DeNiro is just PERFECT as Capitan Shakespeare. The role of “bad-ass-lovely-ballerina-pirate” fits perfect to him.
2- Well, Michelle Pfeifer is still gorgeous. And she’s better playing the role of a witch then any other role as “drama diva”.
3 – Charlie Cox is sweet!
4 – The King and his sons are really funny!!! *g*
… and much more. I know some people will say the movie looks too cliché, but I don’t care. I love Neil Gaiman’s works, and therefore I loved the movie. So the only thing I can say is: Stardust is strongly recommended!! (I can’t barely wait to watch it properly on big screen!!!)
oh ja, and nothing to do with movies or books (I am not “that” nerdie, I still have fun with other stuffs, hehehehe)… the weekend was a blast. Saturday was Boerny’s birthday, and of course we had the party at Escape (where else?)… yoo-hoo! Almost 9 hours with our beloved “whisky-cola” and having much much much fun!!! I went to bed at 7:30 A.M. on Sunday, and believe me… I wasn’t drunk!!! :-O
(maybe my body’s getting used to this weekly amount of whisky *grins*)
