BRN – Bunte Republik Neustadt

June 30, 2007

oh, I forgot to tell and show you that… well, I went to the BRN this year, and it was really funny…

The BRN – Bunte Republik Neustadt (Colorful Republic Neustadt, actually a pun, since the abreviation “BRD” meant the ex-West Germany, “Bundesrepublik Deutschland”) – is a street festival in Dresden, my most beloved city in Germany (and nowadays the place I call “home”).

The history of this event is pretty interesting: the inhabitants of the quarter “Neustadt” organized in 1990, after the German re-union, a small “micronation” as a kind of “insurrection” against the changes in the economic system. They organized a “temporary government” conducted by a “Monarch without Portfolio” and all possible and impossible ministries. A sign was placed at the entrance of the quarter Neustadt with the words:

Hier beginnt das freie Territorium der Bunten Republik Neustadt.

(“Here begins the free territory of the Colorful Republic Neustadt”)

The micronation BRN had also its own currency, the “Neustadtmark”, with the exchange rate 1:1 to the “Ostmark” (the currency of the ex-East Germany) and 1:2 to the West German Mark…

… and lots of other funny stuff. The Republic existed until 1993. Then it turned to a street festival, and since 2002 it’s being patrolled by the police, after some violent actions of some visitors.

Anyway, it’s a funny festival, with lots of concerts and food stands and… and… and… well, it’s fantastic! And the most important point for me:it’s great to meet my best friends again in such an event… take a look at the pictures @ my Ipernity… CLICK HERE

oh ja… and there was this crazy guy climbing the windows… I made a short movie with my digital camera… CLICK HERE to watch it (it’s an Youtube video)

Well, I think I’ll always come back to Dresden for the BRN… first of all, because I love this city! And also because this event is unique! :-)

The Donauinselfest

June 26, 2007

Last weekend took place in Vienna the famous Donauinselfest.

I went there. Well, it’s a big festival on the danubian island… everything happening at the same time, lots and lots and lots and lots of people… and some interesting concerts. Unfortunately I couldn’t see many of the interesting concerts, since my fellows are too young to appreciate good music… so I went with them to some senseless techno events (I cannot call that a “concert”, since nobody’s performing real music up there), and we watched also a nice german group called “Juli”. Nothing amazing, nothing as good as the good and old rock n’ roll… but at least not as annoying and noisy as the techno events.

Take a look at the pictures: http://www.ipernity.com/doc/15347/album/16809

just a mental note: next time I’ll have a rain coat on! ;-)

Finally I can show you this!

June 10, 2007

Well, my beloved Micha became finally one year older, and this year I decided to organize a self-made gift… :-)

… and since he sometimes drops by here, I couldn’t show you this before… :-P

Then I stitched (using the cross-stitch technique) a towel with the words “I love you” in Portuguese. Ok, I know it sounds silly… but I think it’s OK if love’s sometimes a little silly – why not? ;-)

The towel was actually a part of a self-made “bath kit”. The other items were: self-made shampoo and self-made liquid soap. I took some making-off pictures:

Shampoo-base (kind of melted lanolin)

some color…
(I didn’t manage to make the tint with natural products, so I just bought normal tint used to make cookies)

nexts steps:
a wheat-based ingredient. For healthy and brilliant hair. (helps also to comb the hair more soflty)
plus: 3 drops of “blue ocean” aroma
plus: a guar-based active ingredient to thicken
plus: a sugar-based tensid with moisturizing and nurturing properties.

Packaging. I bought a regular plastic shampoo flask. But maybe in the future I’ll try something more creative… :-)

… and wait the whole thing to slide down

cute self-made and self-printed labels!! :-P

it’s difficult to work with only one hand to keep the other one free for the camera! :-P

the manufacturing is similar – only mixing strange stuff to get a cool stuff at the end! :-)

It seems Micha was happy with my gift… It was made with love…

… and I enjoyed the birthday dinner, hmmmm… it was tasty!!! heheheheheh…
