The Concert for Europe – EU FUI!

May 25, 2007

Oi pessoal!!

G-E-N-T-E-M!!

1. Peter Iljitsch Tschaikowsky

From: The Nutcracker – March characteristique

2. Peter Iljitsch Tschaikowsky

From: The Nutcracker – Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy

(a minha música prediletaaaaaaaaa dentre todas as músicas clássicas!! FOFAAAAA!!)

3. Peter Iljitsch Tschaikowsky

From: The Nutcracker – The Arabian Dance

4. Peter Iljitsch Tschaikowsky

From: The Nutcracker – The Chinese Dance

5. Peter Iljitsch Tschaikowsky

From: The Nutcracker – The Mirliton Dance

6. Peter Iljitsch Tschaikowsky

From: The Nutcracker – Russian Dance Trepak

7. Peter Iljitsch Tschaikowsky

From: Swan Lake – Scene Act 2

8. Peter Iljitsch Tschaikowsky

From: Swan Lake – Pas de deux (Act 2)

9. Peter Iljitsch Tschaikowsky

From: Swan Lake – Final scene (Act 4)

10. Igor Strawinsky

Le Sacre du Printemps – second part

(pra quem não sabe esta é a música que toca no templo do filme ˝Young Sherlock Holmes˝ – acho que o filme no Brasil tem o nome imbecil ˝o enigma da pirâmide˝)

(…dentre outras, incluindo o doidão do Rimsky-Korsakoff )

…e a bailarina, então??

Settling down in Vienna

May 13, 2007

Well, finally I am living in Vienna. I received my work permit on Thursday and now I am aloud to work officially here. I am relieved, actually. I was starting to get depressed with so much uncertainity.

So then… I came back to Vienna on 4th May, as you’re read on my last post.

It’s my second weekend in the city since I’m living “officially” here: on Friday I went with Jürgen and Vera (Stefan’s friends) to a rock concert in a really cool place called “Arena”. It was a kind of death-black-trash metal concert. The first two bands were “ok”, but the best one was the last one (as usual…): “Dying Fetus”. They’re good. If you’re the kind who likes this kind of music, try “Dying Fetus” … strongly recommended.

So then. Saturday. I wasn’t in the mood of having anything like parties or concerts… I was feeling homesick in some way, since I am missing Dresden (although it’s not my home town…). So I decided to have a full-healthy-program to cheer up: I started with jogging, then some muscletraining, and only ate healthy stuff till my flatmate decided to cook some “burritos” for us… well, I learned to love mexican food here in Europe, so… hehehe… I just enjoyed it! :-P
By the way, healthy stuff: since our boiler’s not working properly (actually it’s not working at all…), I had a cold… not, a REALLY COLD shower. I could never imagine how cold the water “in natura” here in Europe can be. Well, now I know. And it’s really cold. But some people say cold showers are very healthy (ugh! I almost had a HERZUNFALL!!). Anyway, I think we’ll have to call somebody to fix the boiler on Monday (tomorrow), ’cause I don’t want this experience again. I do believe there are other ways to be healthy without having to take cold showers.

And today’s Sunday. Yeah, it’s Sunday, 05/13/2007. Mother’s day. I waited till my mom went online to tell her congrats, and then I came to this park. It’s called “Karlsplatz” , where the church “Karlskirche” was build. The tourist guide says this area is full of ugly buildings, and that makes the church look much more beautiful. well, IMHO this church’s absolutely fantastic. I am sitting here in front of the building and the view is just gorgeous. You can see here:

I am feeling much better now, living here officially and – of course- working officially here. It will grant me some bucks at the end of the month, hehehehe… Of course I “had” to celebrate all this with the most popular women’s activity: I went shopping!!! Yeah, take a look at my new small toy:

…and, since my MacBook’s called Stormtrooper (for its colour and material), I thought it would be very proper to give my iPod also a StarWars name: R2D2. It’s small, metalic blue, makes amazing stuff and is completely COOL. ;-)

I had also my first “cultural shock” in the city. Funny thing. When I went to “east” Germany, I felt really free. I was so glad to live in a place where people are usually judged much more for their mental skills and their personality then for their appearence, status or money…
And I really got used to be respected for what I a really am, and not for how I look like or for any other superficial criteria… I think that’s the reason why I felt “home” in Dresden.
But here in Vienna things seem to be pretty different. Until now I have the impression people here are much conservative and traditional, and the different social and cultural groups (or “classes”) are really proud of keeping the differences very clear (DEUTLICH). And until now I have also the feeling the Austrians love to keep all clichees, instead of trying to treat all different people equally.
I hope it’s just a false impression. I hope it’s just the characteristic of the groups I am dealing with at the moment.
For this would be a pitty – to come from a place where people are free to be what they are, and being respected exactly how they are, to live – again – in a country where appeareance, sexual and religious orientation and other secondary things are more important then what each person has in her/his heart and mind.
Anyway… I’ll just give it some more time.

BTW I need to start looking for an apartment in the city … I hope I’ll find something not too far away from here. This is for sure one of the most beautiful areas of the city. And exactly for this reason one of the most expensive.

The church’s bells started to ring… I suppose it’s 6:00 P.M, although my computer tells me it’s still 5:55… hm. Maybe God is not too sharp. Or maybe I have to set my computer according to “God’s watch” ;-)

Another cool thing: after the bells, I noticed there was a stage mounted on the park. And they started a nice play, which I used to read when I was a child. The play belongs to the “Bukarest Festwochen”, a kind of “week for the Bucarestian culture”. I loved the play, and so did all the kids who were there… well, I think this is the kind of nice suprise you can face in a city like Vienna: cultural programs are everywhere. I think I’ll like it! :-)

Well, that’s it. The best news I have for the upcoming week is Gisla and Chris’ visit: they come to Vienna to visit me and – of course – to see all that cultural stuff. I love Gisla and Chris, but I have to admit Gisla’s knowledge about art and literature makes me feel a little dumb…. :-P

Vienna – this time it MUST go!

May 7, 2007

Well, this weekend I had my “second first arrival” in Vienna.

I am still facing the same problems with the austrian bureaucracy, and this is making me crazy. I am loosing slowly the motivation for the new job. Yes, Vienna is a cool city, but I am here to work, and I am no teenager anymore. I have no time to spend…

…sigh… anyway, I am VERY GLAD Bianca’s boyfriend, Stefan, gave me some contacts in Vienna. Only for this reason I am feeling a little better and having the “home” feeling here…

The weekend was cool. I’ve met Stefan’s friend Jürgen and his girlfriend Vera, and we went on Friday to the opening party of a “new” metal bar, Viper Room. The band was the best of the night! The guys play together in a metal band, but they have this parallel program – kind of a “we wanna have fun” band called “Los tres hombres” -, where they play the good old rock n’ roll… that was really fantastic! I danced the whole night with covers like AC/DC, The Who, Black Sabbath, Motörhead and more and more…

… and not only that. Jürgen, Vera and their friends are my kind of people. They’re easy-going, funny, sarcastic, ironic and they really enjoy life!!! :-)

They also invited me to go to a birthday party on Saturday, and I was in the mood for this, but my flatmate suggested that we could cook something together… then some of his friends dropped by and we had a nice and cosy night watching movies and eating a tasteful “wok”. Well, my flatmate Matthias can cook pretty well, but I have to admit that one of the factors of success in this case is the amazing market we have behind our building. It’s called “Naschmarkt“, and you can find just everything you can imagine to cook a decent meal. Exquisite spices, and all kinds of ingredients for any kind of cuisine… really amazing!!!

Well, then… since I didn’t have an answer from the austrian bureaucracy till Friday, I decided to join Jürgen and Vera on Sunday night for a concert in a metal bar called Escape. Cool place, amazing people and good music (two local good and crazy bands, and one f*cking good band from Sweden). What else would I wish??? – well, actually I wish my Micha were here. But I think he wouldn’t enjoy the metal scene at all. Well, what can I do? I love him, and I love rock n’roll. I need to learn how to manage my different passions!!! ;-)

The night was delightful, and I think I am starting to make friends in the city. That’s really good. It will help me to settle down as soon as possible. But first of all I need to start working. This wait is just killing me!!! :’-(

Well, but I am trying to look on the bright side and use the time to organise my life and stuffs – like opening a bank account, finding a fitness center and places where I can jog and learn a little more about my new (and first!) MacBook :-)

You can find some few pictures I’ve made this weekend at my Yahoo! Album, just to have an idea how things are going here… :-)

Spent some days in Dresden – that was good!

May 3, 2007

since I am facing some problems with austrian bureaucracy, I decided to go back to Dresden and spend some days with my friends, with Micha and his family.

It was really good!! I had the chance to celebrate Max’s first birthday, Andreas’ graduation at the University, to go to the Ska Party with my friends, to be very often with my sweetheart and of course to be there for Matthias’ 50th birthday party.

Then we got the road to “Frankfurt am Main” – actually to some small city not too far away from Frankfurt – to celebrate Uta’s 65th birthday, retirement and for a kind of family meeting. That was funny!! :-)

And of course we were often walking around for some sightseeing… not bad! you should take a look at Aschaffenburg some day:

- Castle Johannisburg

- Pompejanum

… and all the other stuff we’ve seen: take a look at my Yahoo! Album

well, and tomorrow it’ll be time to go back to Vienna. I hope everything’s gonna be alright and I hope I can start working as soon as possible.
