Ok. My first impression of the city:
Vienna is gorgeous!
ha. Not an original statement. But this “gorgeous” is pretty different from the “gorgeous” of other cities.
For example: IMHO, Berlin is tremendously gorgeous. Berlin is multicolor. Berlin is multi directional. Berlin is chaotic and adorable. Berlin smells like life. Berlin is a place to live your whole life without noticing you’ve spent decades and decades there. Berlin is as gorgeous as the woman (or man) of your life.
But not Vienna.
Vienna is unlimited gorgeous. Just like Gisele Bündchen or Heidi Klum. Vienna smells like Douglas. Vienna has the trendy colors of the season. Vienna only goes through fancy paths.
The coffee shops in Vienna are more attractive then jeweler’s shops in any other city. And the jeweler’s shops in Vienna come directly from the most refined and unreachable socialites’ dreams.
Vienna is not like the woman (or man) of your life. Vienna’s not a place to get used. Vienna’s a place for dreams. Not made of dreams. It’s pure raw material to make dreams. If I haven’t seen this city with my own eyes, I would swear it’s only a very good-written chapter of a Neil Gaiman’s book.
Well, that’s my first impression of the city. Maybe time will show me another Vienna, a Vienna which smells like life and which has all the possible colors – not only the trendy ones.
And maybe with time I’ll realize that – just like Heidi Klum’s made of flesh and blood (I suppose), and maybe even some cellulitis – Vienna is just a city made of reality and expectations, of sweat and parfum, of work and fun, of humans and things… just like any other city.
… but for now… it’s still a city for dreams. And for dreamers.
Here the first pictures I’ve taken:
Pics of my home (the funny guy is my flatmate)
Well, now I’ll be back to reality. And the funny thing is, my reality is more oneiric for me than any dream. Such an odd thing.
