Summer Flu?!

July 27, 2006

A friend of mine used to say (about me): “certain things happen only to certain people”.

That’s it. So… 41 celsius degrees (or 105.8F if you prefer) and I managed to come down with a Flu!!! Fantastic. One week laying in my bed (well, actually in Micha’s bed, hehehehe), with fever and all those stuff you know the flu uses to bring along.

Well… so one week suffering the heat and having to lay in bed. Hmpf.

Such a sad thing… ;-)

Ok, but now I’m almost healthy again… so let’s talk about news!

- The situation in Israel got stranger in some ways… I got lots of jokes (?!?!?!?!?!?!?!) about the israeli state of art… It never happened before. Awful.

- My mailbox is not “that” full, since Micha was too busy studying for the last test of this term, and for this reason I was “allowed” to play with his “weißes Ding” – no, it’s not a nasty thing. It’s only his iBook… ;-)

- Bad news: I have already worked the 180 half-days I’m allowed to, per year. Let me explain it: foreign students (except when their home country has some specific agreement with the European Union) are allowed to work in Germany only 90 full days (or 180 half-days) per year. I have already worked all of them. You know what it means? I cannot work in Germany this year anymore. You know what it means? I will starve!!!

It’s not fair. Here in this country there’s a lot of lazy people who are allowed to work, but they DON’T WANT TO!! They get money from the government and stay at home drinking beer. But I… I WANT TO WORK!!! I really want to. And I need to, since the government gives me no money. But I CAN’T!!! I am not allowed to.

What am I going to do? No clue. I need money and I don’t want to be a clandestine worker. I can apply for a scholarship, but I am too old and I am living in Germany for a long, long time… My chances are really remote.

- Good news: I got a placement at the Human Resources at the same company I was working for till June. The job is really cool, I’ll work with personal development and international delegations. At last I’ll have enough contact with the most valuable thing in this world: PEOPLE. It’s only a 2-month placement, but I’m already excited and ready to learn some cool things (and do some not-so-cool things, but it’s part of the game, nothing is perfect…)

- More good news: I started – after months and months complaining about my shape – the Weight Watchers program! Nope, I’ll not give them lots of money to tell me all the things I already know. I just bought their brochures per eBay and started the program this week. Ok, I was sick, it makes people “lose” weight… but anyway… only one week and I’m already 0,7 kg (or 1.5 pounds if you prefer) thinner!!! yeaaaaaaaaaaah!!!! – ok, I know it’s easier to lose weight at the beginning of the program, but… hey, just let me be happy, ok? ;-)

Well, I think that’s it… for now. I still have to organise my life after this laying-in-bed-week. And try to write all my homeworks before the placement beginns (on 7th August, wow!)

see ya!

The Germans do Stuff

July 22, 2006

It’s pretty hot here in Dresden. Actually… it’s f***ing hot!!!

Nope, I don’t like this weather. I get sick. I can’t barely wait ’till Autumn…

… sigh… but until there… I’ll try to take part on the local summer rituals… :-P

So yesterday: a Friend of mine celebrated her birthday, so… let’s grill !! It was funny, but unfortunately the weather made me sick, and I had to come back home. :-(

But it was really yummy:

Then today: Ok, I decided to go for a walk… and I just learned: NEVER GO FOR A WALK AT 12:00 PM ON SUMMER! That means: the weather made me sick, and I had to come back home. :-(

Now: some Germans in my block will get married, so it’s happening now: POLTERNACHT. No, not “poltergeist”. I mean “Polternacht”. When people get married here they organise this event when everybody brings porcelain – everything, but it’s meant to be kitchen stuff – and they break it in this event, which normally is a barbecue or a dinner.

I asked some friends why people do this here in Germany, and they explained: “it brings good fortune”. Well, untill now it brings only noise… :-/

Tonight: I am going out with some friends, kind of a Brazilian & Latin America party. I wanna dance!!

… I just hope the weather won’t make me sick, and I have to come back home. :-(

Well, now I’ll take a shower. I’m doing this each 3 hours. It’s REALLY hot in here… :-(

Beer happens!

July 21, 2006

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !!!

I went yesterday night to my sport session (sigh… yes, I have to lose weight and I intend to become also healthier, but with all those coincidences… I dunno…. :-P ), when I decided to try a new way back home.

Amazing! Why should I try a new way back home exactly yesterday?

Of course in some minutes I was completely LOST!

Fine. So let’s try to use the “famous” (it’s meant to be ironic) women’s sense of orientation.

Then suddenly… I was somewhere where I’ve never been before… and exactly there was happening something… a BARBECUE!!!

Cool. It’s normal. It’s summer. People grill everywhere the whole time. But the point was… it was a birthday-barbecue, I mean, a barbecue as a birthday party of a… FRIEND OF MINE!

yoo-hoo! Well, beer happens! I just stayed there and had my beer with Anna and her funny Russian, Spanish, and From-everywhere friends.

After this delightful experience I think I’ll always try new ways back home, hehehehehe…

Oh ja, and good news: we have new furniture in the kitchen!! YES! YES! much better than the old one, take a look:

That’s all. For now.

Today Micha’s coming to Dresden… hmmmm… it’s going to be a long long night… :-P

PS: hey, that’s important!! Tonight  at 6:00 P.M. beginns the “Condor Flight Special”, with 50.000 flights worldwide really really cheap! If you want to fly somewhere and want to save money, you should try it:

Happy Friend’s day!!

July 20, 2006

I’ve just read my friend Andrea’s blog and realised it’s “Friend’s day” today in Brasil (yes, I’ll write that with “s” since it’s the way we write it in Portuguese).

A short query to god Google told me there’s also a “Best Friend’s day” in U.S. which happens every 8th June.

In Germany it seems to be no “Tag der Freunde”, or at least there’s no fixed date for this.

Anyway, today’s Friend’s Day in my culture. And I would like to be with my friends today. It’s not possible since almost all of them are too far away. And also the ones who live here in Europe are far away, in their home countries… :-(

… sigh… such a sad thing, isn’t it?

… Actually not. I spent a good hour yesterday talking to one of my best friends here in Germany. She’s from Romania, and we were talking about how lonely we feel here abroad. About how the Germans are a very, very lonely folk. All what they call independence, we (at least for me and for my Romanian friend) call loneliness and selfishness.

Then suddenly, as we were chatting, we realised we don’t need to feel so lonely. We are far away from our homes, but we have each other!! And the best part of the whole thing is, as foreigners we DO understand what the other feels, which seems to be something the Germans will never ever understand.

So… I would like to thank all my friends for every single and silly moment we’ve spent together, every silly joke, every stupid tear we’ve dropped together. Thank you all for making me feel ALIVE. Thank you for giving me reasons to go on.

And, as a small gift for you, here’s a VERY FUNNY VIDEO, heheheheh…. (only for the ones who used to play Atari… :-) )

Human Space Invaders

… and at last I would like to congrat one of my best friends, someone who I really, really miss… HAPPY BIRTHDAY RAFA! (well, this time I’m doing that on the right month, heheheheh)

Stadtfest Dresden!!

July 19, 2006

Hey, it’s Stadtfest in Dresden!
Wow, we’re having a very very very good time here in the city!

it’s summer, we’re done with the tests at the university and we have now time to enjoy the summer events here…

… well, the problem is… my best friends are leaving to their homecountries this week, so… I have to enjoy their presence before they go and come back only when the summer’s gone…

it sounds a little sad, and actually IT IS. But I am the only one who won’t go home this summer. Ok, Devon is not going to her homecountry, but she’s leaving to Japan in August. Not bad.

Well but I think I cannot complain. We’ll travel to Warsaw in 1 week (Paula, Rui, Torsten and I … and maybe Micha will join us later, I HOPE!), and in August there’s the Summer Breeze Festival, which will be A BLAST!!!

… not “that” bad. And I am still looking for a new job.
Sometimes I regret of having terminated my contract with the last employer. I know the job was sh*t, but I am in need of money. And more than money, I am in need of WORK!! I cannot relax, you know? I just NEED a job. I need something to do, I never had talent for laziness, and I hope it will never change… so, if you have a job for me in Dresden, I will be really happy to do something here!

Well, now I will get ready for the bike tour with Devon…

Love Parade!!

July 17, 2006

aaaaaaaaaaaaah. a LOVE PARADE!!

sim sim sim. no sábado!!!

simples. Eu gosto de observar as pessoas.

Russo!

Então chegamos a Berlim por volta das 15h. Nada mal, cedo o suficiente pra
aproveitar a parada. Dez minutos a pé e… voilà!! Tudo acontecendo ao mesmo
tempo.

então picamos a mula!

preocupar!! :-)

(e eu contei a mesma história no meu blog:
http://blog.myspace.com/nuala_die_fee . Os fotoblogs também são atualizados
frequentemente: http://www.fotolog.com/the_fairy_nuala/ e
http://www.fotolog.com/eh_ieu_mess )

beeeeeeeeeeeeeeijos!

franceses e iranianos…

July 2, 2006

chegamos quase a ir.

http://www.rtp.pt/index.php?article=247694&visual=16

PQP!!

… weird.
